About RachelMy name is Michelle Rosoff, my daughter Rachel Rosoff who tragically died on Sept 3rd 2016 at the young age of 17 inspired the Rachel Rosoff Scholarship which is given to a student each year from Enloe High School and New Paltz High School. Rachel was a senior at Enloe High school in Raleigh, NC at the time of her death. Rachel was an extraordinary writer and a very deep thinker. She never took anything at face value and asked numerous questions about those things she just could not understand. She was non-judgmental and accepted people for whom they were. Rachel was deeply invested in people and understanding why people do some of the things they do. She was what we described as an “old soul” and had more insight and wisdom at the age of 17 than most people achieve in a lifetime. She was simple and did not spend her days trying to impress or keep up with the latest trends. She was a free spirit and prided herself on being independent.
Rachel used her gift of writing to express her feelings in the most beautiful and concise manner. Rachel had many dreams and aspirations for her future. She had a passion for working with children and loved making people laugh. She was contemplating going to college to be a teacher, but her real dream was to work as a writer for Saturday Night Live. Rachel was a giver and spent her time doing volunteer work and giving back to the community. In addition to writing, she had a tremendous passion for acting and was quite good. Rachel brought a brightness to everyone she met. This is to honor our beautiful daughter and to encourage others to get in touch with their inner self and creativity to gain self-insight, confidence, gain leadership skills and recognize just how empowering writing can be. |
